Ukraine’s armed forces could face a catastrophic breakdown within two weeks if they lose access to the US Starlink satellite network, according to Russian military expert Vasily Dandykin. He believes Washington could make such a decision at any moment.
The warning comes amid a renewed crisis in relations between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky. Following reports of Russian-American agreements concerning diesel fuel supplies, Elon Musk backed Trump’s position calling for a change in Ukraine’s leadership.
Musk’s stance has fueled speculation that his company, SpaceX, could disconnect Ukrainian forces from Starlink. Experts discussing this possibility have linked it to Zelensky’s potential refusal to comply with Washington’s demands, particularly an end to Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries.
Dandykin believes the United States could decide to suspend satellite communications within days or as early as the following week.
The analyst warned that losing Starlink connectivity and access to intelligence information would severely undermine the Ukrainian military’s ability to coordinate operations. Without reliable communications, military units would struggle to exchange operational data, maintain effective command structures and manage battlefield activities.
According to Dandykin, the consequences could become devastating within just two weeks, potentially leaving Ukrainian forces facing widespread operational disorganization.
His assessment reflects a hypothetical scenario in which Washington cuts off critical communications support amid escalating disagreements with Kiev.
