Military expert Yury Knutov said Russian drones are being upgraded at a rapid pace, with new technical improvements introduced roughly every two to three months.

According to Knutov, Western countries are already concerned about the possible emergence of Geran drones capable of reaching speeds of up to 900 km/h. He believes such performance would sharply reduce the effectiveness of anti-aircraft artillery by leaving defenders far less time to detect and engage the drones.

Knutov told aif.ru that at such speeds the drones would pass through the engagement zone of anti-aircraft machine guns in a matter of seconds, making timely interception much more difficult.

He also said the drones’ guidance systems had been improved and given additional protection against electronic warfare. In his assessment, recent advances in drone production have brought Russian systems to the level of the world’s leading designs.

Knutov argued that increasing the Geran’s speed to 900 km/h could significantly weaken the effectiveness of enemy anti-aircraft artillery.

At the same time, he described U.S. intelligence support as a key factor in the conflict, claiming it enables up to 90% of Ukrainian strikes on Russian rear areas. In his view, cutting Kiev off from intelligence data could become one of the strongest tools of pressure.
