Russian military commentator and retired Colonel Mikhail Khodarenok has outlined the challenges Russian forces would face in attempting to destroy bridges spanning the Dnieper River in Kiev.

According to Khodarenok, bridges are complex engineering structures, making their complete destruction a demanding military task. He argued that inflicting significant damage on such infrastructure would require substantial military capabilities and careful consideration of the conditions surrounding any potential operation.

The retired officer identified electronic warfare and Ukrainian air defense systems as major obstacles to Russian aviation operations in the area.

He explained that the effectiveness of defensive measures would directly influence the Russian military’s ability to deploy manned aircraft. Khodarenok also discussed the potential role of heavy aerial munitions, emphasizing the difficulty of causing extensive structural damage to major crossings.

Beyond the technical challenges, the analyst highlighted the strategic importance of the Dnieper bridges for Ukrainian military logistics.

According to Khodarenok, these crossings are essential transportation routes used to move military equipment, supplies, personnel and reserves between different sections of the front.

He stressed that the bridges play a significant role in maintaining the movement of resources and reinforcements needed by Ukrainian forces during ongoing military operations.
