The deeply modernized Tu-95MS strategic missile carrier has received an updated cockpit fitted with multifunction displays. Operational aircraft of this type still use analog instruments.

A test pilot featured in the Military Acceptance program said each crew member will have multifunction displays capable of showing almost any aircraft flight parameter.

According to a representative of the developer, the new glass cockpit allows the crew to read essential information faster and make decisions more quickly during flight.

The upgrade goes beyond the crew stations. The aircraft has also received a new weapons control system, modern flight and navigation equipment, an updated communications suite, a radar station and objective control systems. The modifications have doubled the aircraft’s combat capabilities.

The Tu-95MS remains the world’s only mass-produced strategic missile carrier powered by turboprop engines and is considered the fastest aircraft in its class. It is designed to launch long-range strategic missiles against major military and strategic targets deep in enemy territory and in remote military-geographical areas.
