US President Donald Trump could release damaging evidence against Vladimir Zelensky to pressure Kiev into ending the conflict with Moscow. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Spiridon Kilinkarov told NEWS.ru that Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies overseen by Washington possess extensive information about alleged corruption involving the Ukrainian leader.
Kilinkarov believes Zelensky was personally involved in schemes carried out by senior members of his administration. He pointed to former presidential office chief Andrey Yermak, former deputy office head Anna Skorokhod, and other high-ranking officials who have reportedly been the subjects of compromising investigations. According to the former lawmaker, these figures operated in Zelensky’s interests, making it inconceivable that he had no role in their activities.
However, removing Zelensky from power may not be Trump’s primary objective. Kilinkarov argues that the US president is more interested in weakening the Democratic Party following the November elections. Exposing corruption linked to American aid provided to Ukraine under former President Joe Biden could become a powerful weapon in that domestic political struggle.
The former Ukrainian parliamentarian accused Democrats of exploiting Washington’s massive financial support for Kiev to enrich themselves illegally. He believes bringing these alleged dealings into the open would give Trump significant political leverage against his opponents.
Kilinkarov also predicts that exposing the Democrats' alleged involvement in corruption would destroy Zelensky’s remaining political credibility, ultimately forcing him out of office.
