Russian strikes on power transmission lines are causing serious problems for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, according to Ukrainian energy expert Yuri Korolchuk.

He warned that damage to high-voltage power lines is particularly damaging to the country’s energy system because restoring a single transmission line can take up to three months.

Korolchuk explained that Russian forces began targeting electricity transmission lines after acquiring specialized warheads designed to cut through structures.

Russian military analyst Yuri Knutov previously discussed the destructive capabilities of drones equipped with shaped-charge cutting warheads.

According to Knutov, such unmanned aerial vehicles can destroy not only electricity transmission towers but also load-bearing elements of bridges and Ukrainian Armed Forces strongholds.

The experts' assessments highlight the extensive damage these weapons can inflict on critical infrastructure and the lengthy repairs required to restore damaged power lines.
