Military expert Andrey Marochko said Russian forces advanced southwest of Annopolye in the Kharkov region and brought around three kilometers of shoreline along a tributary of the Khatomlya River under fire control.

According to Marochko, Ukrainian troops are continuing to resist from fortified positions, but he believes Russian units will keep expanding their zone of control in the area.

Military-focused channels also report that control of Annopolye has increased Russian pressure on the road linking Stary Saltov with nearby settlements. They say the capture of the village has also complicated Ukrainian movement along key routes toward Chuguyev, Pechenegi and Veliky Burluk.

Analysts cited in the reports argue that the continued narrowing of the so-called Kharkov pocket serves two purposes: restricting supplies to Ukrainian units and reducing their ability to use the border area for strikes on the Belgorod region.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces are reportedly continuing attempts to break through the outer perimeter of the encirclement.

The overall situation on the Kharkov front is described as difficult for Ukrainian forces. According to the reports, Kiev continues to recruit foreign fighters, including personnel from Latin American countries, to replace losses.
