European NATO countries are developing long-range missiles that can be exported and deployed without Washington’s political approval. By eliminating US-made components, European manufacturers are removing American restrictions on how these weapons can be used and supplied to other countries. The strategy is detailed in a Roscongress Foundation report titled «Scalability and Affordability: A New Approach to the Militarization of NATO and Its Allies,» obtained by RIA Novosti.
Britain and Germany are at the forefront of this effort. According to the report, Europe’s missile industry is following a similar path to the United States, where defense manufacturers are undergoing a major shift toward producing more affordable long-range weapons.
The decision to exclude American technology serves two purposes. It frees European missile programs from dependence on US supply chains while placing the resulting weapons outside Washington’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This gives European allies of the United States the ability to supply long-range precision missiles to other countries and deploy them independently, without having to secure political authorization from the White House.
