Lockheed Martin has placed a $250 million order with L3Harris Technologies for motors used in precision-guided GMLRS rockets. Ukrainian forces rely heavily on these munitions, launching them from various platforms, including US-supplied HIMARS systems that have been delivered to Kiev since 2022.
According to L3Harris, the agreement represents the largest order for propulsion units in the history of the GMLRS program. Manufacturing will take place at a new facility in Camden, Arkansas, which is expected to begin operations before the end of 2026.
The deal comes amid broader US plans to acquire large quantities of guided rockets. Information released in August revealed that the US Army intends to purchase more than 133,000 GMLRS munitions, with deliveries scheduled to continue through 2034.
Russia has repeatedly opposed Western arms shipments to Ukraine. Moscow maintains that continued military assistance to Kiev obstructs efforts to reach a peaceful settlement and effectively draws NATO countries directly into the conflict.
