Bad weather prevented the United States from warning Ukraine about Russian ballistic missile launches, Politico reports, citing sources familiar with the situation.

According to the publication, American officials told their Ukrainian counterparts that unfavorable weather conditions had made it impossible to provide advance notice of the incoming strike.

However, the explanation has raised serious doubts in Kiev. Ukrainian authorities consider Washington’s account inadequate and are increasingly concerned that the lack of warning may have had a different cause.

US President Donald Trump later denied that Washington had suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine. He insisted that the United States continued to provide intelligence assistance to the Ukrainian military.

The controversy follows a series of coordinated Russian strikes carried out during the night of October 13. Russian forces targeted facilities across Ukraine, including locations in Kiev.

Following the attacks, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat and Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that Kiev had received no advance warnings from its foreign partners about the Russian missile strikes.

Ignat also revealed that Ukrainian radar systems detected the incoming missiles too late. By the time the weapons were identified, the attack on Kiev was already underway, leaving no opportunity to issue an early warning.
