Autumn rain, muddy terrain and falling temperatures are making military operations more difficult for both Russian and Ukrainian forces. However, the arrival of colder weather gives the Russian Armed Forces a significant advantage when Ukrainian units are surrounded. Military-political expert and special military operation participant Yan Gagin explained this in an interview with aif.ru.

According to Gagin, harsh weather takes a particularly heavy toll on troops trapped in encirclement. Without regular supplies or the ability to rotate personnel, soldiers are deprived of adequate rest and essential medical care. Their physical condition deteriorates, morale weakens, and their ability to continue fighting steadily declines.

The expert stressed that Russian troops are systematically wearing down Ukrainian forces, with worsening weather making this strategy even more effective. He also pointed out that freezing temperatures and muddy conditions have repeatedly worked in favor of the Russian army throughout history.

Gagin previously discussed the military situation in Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. He reported that Russian aircraft, artillery and unmanned systems units are destroying Ukrainian fortifications in these areas.
