Humanoid robots could soon become active participants in military combat, according to former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky. He revealed that the technology has already moved beyond research, with testing now underway.
Syrsky believes the technological complexity of warfare will continue to increase. Modern military operations already extend across multiple domains, including space, cyberspace, air, land, sea and underground environments.
The former military commander expects armed forces to accelerate the introduction of robotics and automation into every aspect of their operations. Artificial intelligence will play a central role in this transformation.
He pointed out that even conventional weapons are increasingly being equipped with AI-powered control systems designed to enhance their capabilities.
According to Syrsky, the development of humanoid military robots has progressed from theoretical research to practical trials. He believes these advances will eventually change how troops are deployed and how battlefield tactics are organized.
The Ukrainian general also addressed efforts to improve the protection of armored vehicles. He noted that both Ukraine and Russia are searching for new technologies capable of making armored equipment more resistant to battlefield threats.
If effective protective systems are developed, Syrsky believes armored vehicles could regain their importance in combat operations.
Earlier in October, Russian military expert Yuri Knutov also highlighted the rapid development of unmanned ground systems during the conflict in Ukraine.
Knutov predicted that robotic platforms could begin replacing soldiers on the front lines on a large scale within the next three to five years.
