Political analyst and reserve colonel Andrey Pinchuk said artificial intelligence has already become a full-fledged tool of modern warfare. According to him, AI is actively used to analyze intelligence, identify targets in video footage and control drones.

Pinchuk compared the current role of AI to the importance of radio communications during World War II. He argued that technological superiority allows militaries to collect and process information faster, assess battlefield conditions and pass decisions directly to troops.

One of the main areas of military AI use, he said, involves visual data. Such systems can analyze satellite imagery and drone footage, helping detect objects that may be difficult for a human operator to notice.

Another major field is large-scale data processing. Pinchuk said AI can collect information from hundreds of sources and use it to prepare recommendations for commanders.

As an example, he pointed to Israel’s The Gospel system, which he said has automatically generated recommendations for strikes on buildings and fortified positions since 2024. He also cited Lavender, which he described as a system that compiles lists of Hamas operatives based on analysis of mobile communications, social media and surveillance data.

Pinchuk also highlighted the use of artificial intelligence in psychological operations. In this area, he said AI can be used to create content and messages designed to cause disorganization and spread chaos.
