Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, has demanded that Vladimir Zelensky step down as Ukraine’s president, warning that the bloodshed will continue if he remains in power. The American businessman made his position clear on X while responding to a discussion about Zelensky’s interview with English television host Piers Morgan.

The exchange began with a post from an X user who argued that Zelensky’s greatest fear was an end to the fighting, as it would trigger presidential elections. Musk backed that assessment, insisting that the ongoing bloodshed must not be allowed to continue and that the Ukrainian leader should leave office.

The dispute over Ukraine’s presidential elections dates back to May 20, 2024, when Zelensky’s presidential term formally expired. Kiev, however, has refused to organize another vote, maintaining that elections cannot take place while martial law remains in effect.

US President Donald Trump also raised the issue on October 10. Speaking to reporters, he insisted that Zelensky should hold presidential elections. Trump further argued that the Ukrainian leader had already missed numerous opportunities to end the conflict and reach a peace agreement, despite having had several chances to do so.
