Russian security officials told TASS that the distance between Russian units and the eastern outskirts of Kostyantynivka has narrowed to just over one kilometer in some areas of the front.
«In certain sectors, it’s a little more than one kilometer to Kostyantynivka,» one representative confirmed to the news agency.
According to those same sources, combat operations have shifted to settlements east of the city following the capture of Chasiv Yar.
On July 31, Russia’s Ministry of Defense officially declared Chasiv Yar fully under the control of Russian forces. The battle for the city lasted more than a year. Situated on elevated terrain, Chasiv Yar gives Russian troops a tactical advantage, enabling them to push further toward key Ukrainian strongholds, including Kostyantynivka and the larger Sloviansk-Kramatorsk urban cluster.
