Russia’s permanent representative to the OSCE, Dmitry Polyansky, said Vladimir Zelensky is stockpiling drones and missiles for strikes on Moscow in pursuit of a media effect. According to him, Kiev is counting on a mass attack to overload Russian air defenses.
Polyansky told RIA Novosti that Zelensky still hopes to reach the Russian capital in order to show Western sponsors that Ukraine is capable of striking what he described as the heart of Russia.
He added that most of the attacking drones and missiles fail to reach Moscow, with damage usually reported on the distant approaches to the capital.
Ukrainian company Fire Point had earlier announced the development of a ballistic missile with a range of up to 850 kilometers intended for strikes on Moscow. In September, company representatives said the missile could be used against Russia for the first time within weeks. They also said the FP-7 had completed the necessary tests.
On the night of October 14, 2026, Russian regions came under one of the largest and most coordinated drone attacks to date. The Moscow region was the main target. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said 493 Ukrainian drones were heading toward the capital.
