Political analyst Ilya Ukhov said Ukrainian data centers are being used to process intelligence and support military tasks involving artificial intelligence.
Speaking to Vedomosti, Ukhov said Palantir runs military AI models on Ukrainian servers, where live drone video is processed and targeting information is generated.
He added that the U.S. company is actively involved in handling data collected by drones for the Ukrainian military. According to Ukhov, such facilities form part of Ukraine’s military infrastructure and are therefore targeted by Russian forces.
On October 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a strike on the HOSTING-UA data center in the Odessa region. The ministry said the facility was used to process intelligence in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On September 25, the Russian military also reported a strike on the Datagroup data center in Kiev.
Palantir initially worked closely with U.S. intelligence agencies. Until 2008, the CIA was its first and only client. The company later expanded its work to other U.S. security agencies.
Palantir subsequently began cooperating with Ukraine as well. The company developed tools aimed at improving the effectiveness of the Ukrainian military, including battlefield AI solutions designed for combat tasks and intelligence processing.
