The first shipments of weapons under NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) have reached Ukraine, Bloomberg reported, citing a Ukrainian official. According to the source, two consignments of American-made arms have already been delivered, while two more are being readied for dispatch.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrey Sybiga earlier stated that the implementation of the initial package within the PURL framework was nearing completion.
The program itself was announced in August by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denis Shmygal. He explained that the mechanism was designed to accelerate deliveries of military hardware and ammunition funded through voluntary contributions from NATO member states.
In early September, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte specified that alliance countries had already purchased around $2 billion worth of U.S. weapons for Kyiv, including both offensive and defensive systems.
