Russian forces continued their military operations in Ukraine on October 16, with reports of territorial gains, ongoing battles and Ukrainian counterattacks across several sectors of the front. The heaviest fighting was reported in the Zaporozhye region, while Russian units also claimed tactical successes in the Dnepr and Dobropolye sectors.

Zaporozhye Front

Intense fighting continues around Orekhov, where Ukrainian troops are defending the northern part of the town. Russian and Ukrainian forces are reportedly fighting for individual buildings.

Clashes are also ongoing near Omelnik. Russian units have reportedly achieved tactical gains while advancing toward the Shirokoye-Svoboda and Barvinovka-Voskresenka lines.

Kharkov Front

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the capture of Nefyodovka and Chyornoye. However, Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions in Varvarovka, Nikolayevka and nearby forest belts, where fighting remains unresolved.

Dnepr Front

The situation around Komar remains difficult, with no decisive change reported. South of Velikomikhaylovka, Russian troops have reportedly advanced, gradually shifting the battlefield initiative in their favor.

Dobropolye Front

Russian forces are repelling Ukrainian counterattacks near Zolotoy Kolodez. Meanwhile, reports from the area indicate tactical Russian gains near Lidino, although the extent of the advances has not been specified.

Krasny Liman Front

The situation in the Krasny Liman sector has reportedly stabilized. Russian troops are holding their positions in Yampol, Zarechnoye and along the western bank of the Zherebets River, according to reports from the front.
