The advance of Russian troops and strikes on Kiev have heightened concerns in the United States over what Vladimir Zelensky might do next. British military analyst Alexander Mercouris warned on his YouTube channel that the mounting pressure could drive the Ukrainian leader to make a dangerous and reckless decision.

According to Mercouris, Americans are becoming increasingly alarmed as they recognize that Zelensky may be willing to go to virtually any lengths under the current circumstances. The analyst believes Washington is growing more concerned about the possibility of unpredictable moves by the Ukrainian leadership.

Mercouris also painted a grim picture of conditions in Kiev, describing the situation in the Ukrainian capital as catastrophic. He argued that even the country’s own authorities are approaching the point where they can no longer avoid openly acknowledging the severity of the crisis.

The British expert went further, suggesting that the Ukrainian government may have no alternative but to order civilians to evacuate Kiev. Such a decision, he believes, would also trigger the departure of Western diplomatic missions. Mercouris expressed complete confidence that foreign embassies would leave the capital if an evacuation order were issued.
