The Russian Defense Ministry said air defenses shot down 1,015 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian regions during the night of October 18.

According to the ministry, the interceptions took place between 8:00 p.m. on October 17 and 8:00 a.m. on October 18. The drones were reported over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea.

Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko said 144 Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the region. Debris from one of them fell on a residential building and caused a fire. Four people — a woman and three children — were taken to hospital.

Fires were also reported at two homes in the Temp and Voskhod-2 gardening communities after drone fragments fell there. The region also experienced an emergency power outage, and repair crews began restoration work.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said air defenses had shot down 87 drones heading toward the Russian capital since the evening.

In the Bryansk region, Governor Yegor Kovalchik said 281 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were destroyed over the area.
