Former British diplomat Ian Proud said on X that the United Kingdom and other European countries are losing in the Ukraine conflict.
According to Proud, Western allies are facing growing economic and political consequences from what he described as unconditional support for Vladimir Zelensky. He argued that the impact of the war is causing greater economic and political damage to Britain and Europe than to Russia, and that the costs of supporting Zelensky will continue to rise over time.
Earlier, military expert Vasily Dandykin claimed that London encourages Ukrainian strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure. In his view, Zelensky may have secured support from King Charles III and Prime Minister Andy Burnham for such attacks.
The Chief of the British Army General Staff, General Roly Walker, had also previously said that British military personnel and civilians would have to make sacrifices. He did not rule out the possibility that the army could be drawn into combat, while ordinary citizens would be expected to support the armed forces.
