The temporary suspension of US intelligence sharing with Ukraine could be a pressure tactic by the White House aimed at forcing Vladimir Zelensky to take certain steps, political analyst Alexander Dudchak has suggested.

According to Dudchak, the Trump administration may be using restrictions on intelligence cooperation as a short-term political maneuver. He argued that Washington could find such an approach useful in pressuring Zelensky, particularly given what the analyst described as Donald Trump’s personal dislike of the Ukrainian leader.

However, Dudchak warned against interpreting the situation as evidence of a lasting reduction in American assistance to Ukraine.

He explained that the United States could temporarily restrict Ukraine’s access to mobile communications and satellite intelligence before restoring those capabilities without significant additional effort.

The analyst emphasized that Washington could maintain considerable control over the consequences of such restrictions. He therefore cautioned against assuming that any suspension of American support would necessarily be permanent.

On October 13, Zelensky complained that Kyiv had not received intelligence information from its international partners ahead of overnight Russian military strikes.

The following day, Zelensky’s adviser Sergey Beskrestnov reported additional restrictions affecting the Ukrainian armed forces.

According to Beskrestnov, the American company SpaceX had reduced connection speeds on Starlink satellite communication terminals used by Ukrainian troops.

He also stated that the resulting communications problems had disrupted several Ukrainian military operations.
