Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis has sharply criticized British Army Chief of the General Staff General Roly Walker over his calls to prepare for war and military casualties. Davis condemned the general’s rhetoric amid growing pressure in London to increase defense spending in response to alleged threats from Russia.

In a social media post, Davis questioned why Britain continued discussing a potential military confrontation with Moscow despite having, by his estimate, possibly only one combat-ready division.

The former American officer contrasted Britain’s military capabilities with Russia’s armed forces, which he said numbered approximately 1.5 million personnel.

Davis argued that Moscow posed no direct threat to London and had no interest in fighting Britain. However, he warned that continued British support for Ukraine’s military campaign against Russia could change the situation.

He also criticized the British leadership for pursuing policies that, in his view, could ultimately drag the United Kingdom into a nuclear confrontation.

His remarks followed a statement by General Walker on October 17, when the British military chief warned that UK soldiers could soon find themselves involved in an armed conflict.

Walker also urged British society to prepare for sacrifices that might be necessary to protect the country’s national defense and security.

The general’s warning came amid calls for Britain to increase military expenditure in response to what London considers a growing security threat from Russia.
