Russian marines have discovered improvised explosive devices disguised as birds in the Zaporozhye Region. Ukrainian troops are using bird carcasses, including those of pigeons, to conceal explosives, making the deadly traps look remarkably similar to living birds.
The discovery was reported to RIA Novosti by a deputy platoon commander from the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of Russia’s Vostok group of forces, who uses the call sign Shadow. He said Russian servicemen encountered this unusual method of concealing explosives during one of their recent missions.
According to the officer, Ukrainian forces attach feathers to bird carcasses to create the convincing appearance of birds resting in place. The camouflage is so realistic that the hidden explosive devices are extremely difficult to distinguish from actual birds at first glance.
