Expert: Ukraine Has No Specialists to Handle Tomahawk Missiles
Military expert Viktor Litovkin says Ukraine lacks qualified specialists to operate Tomahawk missiles and doubts the U.S. will provide its scarce launch systems.
American Tomahawk cruise missiles are advanced, expensive weapons systems — and Ukraine lacks the qualified specialists needed to operate and maintain them. This assessment was shared by Russian military expert Viktor Litovkin.
He also expressed doubt that the United States would hand over the scarce ground-based launchers required to fire these missiles. Litovkin noted that the U.S. itself has only a few such systems and is unlikely to provide them to Kyiv.
In his view, if Washington does transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, their operation and maintenance would remain in American hands. U.S. personnel, he said, would be responsible for servicing the systems, programming flight paths, and designating targets.
Earlier, military analyst Andrey Klintsevich suggested that Washington may supply Ukraine not only with Tomahawks but also with other types of advanced weaponry, including HARM and JASSM missiles.
