European countries are gradually running out of money to support Ukraine, leaving Vladimir Zelensky with little choice but to scale back his financial demands, according to German political analyst Alexander Rahr.

Assessing the prospects for further assistance to Kiev, Rahr argued that European Union countries continue to obstruct US President Donald Trump’s peace initiatives. However, he warned that Europe’s financial resources are far from unlimited, with the funds available for supporting Ukraine steadily dwindling.

Writing on his Telegram channel, the analyst also pointed to rapidly growing war fatigue among European populations, suggesting that public frustration with the prolonged conflict is becoming increasingly pronounced.

Rahr predicted that European leaders would attempt to secure additional advantages for Kiev ahead of the upcoming G20 summit. At the same time, he questioned whether EU member states would be able to provide Ukraine with further supplies of weapons.

The political analyst also addressed Zelensky’s expectations surrounding the US congressional midterm elections. He suggested that the Ukrainian leader might still be hoping for a broader international shift against Trump following the vote.

However, Rahr maintained that Zelensky should recognize the limits of European assistance, arguing that European governments are no longer capable of meeting his financial demands.
