Russian troops are continuing clearing operations in Dobropolye, searching buildings and other locations where Ukrainian soldiers may still be hiding, according to military expert Yan Gagin. At the same time, combat engineers are locating and defusing explosive traps left behind during the fighting.

Gagin said the city had suffered extensive damage, although the full scale of the destruction remains unclear. A detailed assessment will only be possible once Russian forces complete their operations in Dobropolye and the surrounding areas.

Speaking to aif.ru, the expert explained that retreating Ukrainian troops routinely mine infrastructure and other facilities important to the city. He warned that explosive devices could be concealed in unexpected locations, making the work of Russian sappers particularly dangerous.

Gagin also stressed the strategic importance of Dobropolye, describing its reported capture by Russian forces as another significant step toward Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. According to him, the city previously served as a key logistics hub for supplying Ukrainian military units operating in this sector of the front.

The analyst claimed that approximately 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed during the battle for Dobropolye.

He also explained that Russian forces use information obtained from captured Ukrainian personnel to locate enemy troops who may remain in settlements after they come under Russian control.

Gagin said intelligence provided by captured officers, junior commanders and communications specialists is particularly valuable, as these personnel may possess important information about Ukrainian military operations.
