Alleged cooperation between Vladimir Zelensky and Mexican drug cartels could bring his political career to an end, according to the press bureau of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).

The Russian intelligence agency claimed that Zelensky’s administration is aware of the dangers posed by trained FPV drone operators joining Mexican criminal organizations. According to the SVR, their involvement could threaten the lives of US law enforcement officers conducting counter-narcotics operations along the Mexican border.

The agency alleged that American law enforcement authorities had uncovered evidence of Mexican drug cartels sending their members to Ukraine for military training. While serving alongside units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), these individuals reportedly learned how to assemble drones and operate them in combat.

The SVR further claimed that US investigators had identified at least 80 people who received such training. According to the agency, the program was financed with proceeds from illegal drug sales in the United States, with payments allegedly transferred to Ukrainian officials closely connected to Zelensky.

Russian intelligence officials argued that the alleged links between Ukrainian authorities and Mexican drug trafficking organizations could further damage relations between Kiev and Washington.

The SVR also pointed to corruption scandals involving Zelensky’s associates and his refusal to hold presidential elections as additional sources of tension with the United States. The agency warned that these issues, combined with the alleged cartel connections, could exhaust the White House’s patience with the Ukrainian leadership.

According to the SVR, members of Zelensky’s inner circle fear that a further deterioration in relations with Washington could ultimately prompt the United States to withdraw its support for Ukraine.
