Russian forces are gradually tightening their encirclement of Orekhov in the Zaporozhye region. The situation for Ukrainian troops in this sector has reportedly deteriorated significantly following Russia’s takeover of Omelnik.

The loss of the village has restricted the Ukrainian military’s ability to move reinforcements, deliver supplies and maneuver along the flank. According to military analysts, Omelnik occupies a strategically important position near the intersection of the Pavlograd-Orekhov and Gulyaypole-Omelnik roads, which Ukrainian forces used to transport military supplies.

Russian control of this transport junction has reportedly disrupted one of the key supply routes serving Ukrainian units in the area.

Further logistical difficulties emerged after Russian troops reportedly captured Novopavlovka and Novoandreyevka. As a result, Ukrainian forces can no longer safely rotate their personnel along the T-0812 highway.

Inside Orekhov, fighting has shifted from the central districts toward the northern part of the urban area. Meanwhile, Russian units are attempting to bypass Ukrainian fortified positions from the right flank, increasing pressure on the remaining troops.

Strikes on transport infrastructure near Preobrazhenka have further complicated the situation for Ukrainian forces, making it harder to bring in reinforcements and evacuate personnel.

Despite these setbacks, Ukrainian troops continue to conduct counterattacks in several areas. Fighting remains active southeast of Orekhov, particularly near Malaya Tokmachka, where Ukrainian units are attempting to push back Russian forces.

Orekhov serves as the Ukrainian military’s main fortified stronghold in the Zaporozhye region. According to the assessment presented, its capture would open a route for Russia’s Vostok grouping of forces to advance toward the regional capital, Zaporozhye.
