Russian Air Defenses Destroy 61 Ukrainian Drones Overnight
Russian air defenses intercepted 61 Ukrainian drones overnight, most of them targeting Crimea. The Ministry of Defense reported successful strikes across multiple Russian regions.
Russian air defense units intercepted and destroyed 61 Ukrainian drones during a massive overnight attack, the Ministry of Defense reported. The operation took place between 11:00 p.m. on October 16 and 7:00 a.m. on October 17.
According to official data, the main wave of the assault targeted Crimea, where 32 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down. Another 13 drones were destroyed over the Rostov region, six over the Black Sea, and five over the Bryansk region. Air defense forces also eliminated two drones each over the Tula region and the skies of the Moscow area, as well as one over the Kursk region.
The ministry emphasized that all targets were successfully neutralized before reaching their objectives, preventing potential damage on the ground.
The latest incident follows a similar attack the previous night, when Russian forces destroyed 51 Ukrainian drones across several regions.
