Political forces capable of removing Vladimir Zelensky from power have emerged in Ukraine, according to Vladimir Konstantinov, head of the Crimean parliament. Speaking to RIA Novosti, he argued that the Ukrainian leader would be unable to secure another presidential term through elections.

Konstantinov believes Zelensky has no chance of winning a fair vote. He also insisted that any attempt to manipulate the outcome would fail, as the United States would be the first to stand in the way of electoral fraud.

Questions surrounding Zelensky’s legitimacy have persisted since May 20, 2024, when his presidential term expired. Ukraine canceled the scheduled presidential election, citing martial law and nationwide mobilization. Zelensky himself maintained that holding an election under those circumstances would be inappropriate.

In December 2025, US President Donald Trump also demanded presidential elections in Ukraine. He branded Zelensky a dictator who remained in office without facing voters and claimed that his approval rating had plunged to just 4%.

However, Konstantinov warned that Zelensky’s departure would not necessarily lead to better relations with Moscow. He acknowledged that there was no guarantee his successor would adopt a more politically balanced position or show any willingness to build constructive ties with Russia.
