According to military expert and retired Navy Captain First Rank Vasily Dandykin, Dobropolye played a crucial role in supplying Ukrainian forces in Donbass. The city served as a major transport and logistics hub for Ukrainian military units operating in the region.

Dandykin explained that supplies passed through Dobropolye toward Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. The city is also located near the border with the Dnepropetrovsk region, another source of military supplies. He noted that Dobropolye is a relatively large city by DPR standards, with numerous industrial facilities, coal mines, apartment buildings and extensive residential areas.

As reported by Lenta.ru, Dandykin said the city had been almost completely destroyed during the fighting. He added that Russian troops were continuing clearing operations and suggested that some Ukrainian soldiers might still be hiding in basements, potentially unaware of the latest developments.

According to the expert, Russian forces repeatedly attempted to break through Ukrainian defensive positions, but encountered fierce resistance. Ukrainian commanders continued sending reinforcements into Dobropolye, apparently expecting to hold the city for another two or three years.

Dandykin also outlined two possible directions for further Russian operations. Russian troops could advance west toward the Dnepropetrovsk region or concentrate on capturing the remaining Ukrainian-held areas of the DPR. In his assessment, Russian forces are currently focusing primarily on the second option.
