Poland’s Armament Agency has announced the delivery of another batch of South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks to the 16th Mechanized Division, stationed near the town of Braniewo close to the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region.
According to the agency, the latest shipment includes K2GF Black Panther tanks along with tools, spare parts and ammunition. However, Polish officials did not disclose how many armored vehicles were delivered.
The division began receiving K2 tanks in 2024 as part of an ongoing effort to replace its aging Polish-made PT-91 Twardy tanks with modern South Korean combat vehicles.
In 2022, Warsaw and Seoul signed a framework agreement covering the potential purchase of up to 1,000 K2 Black Panther tanks. Under the initial phase of the deal, the Polish military has already received 180 vehicles.
In August 2026, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that 28 South Korean K2 tanks had been delivered to the 16th Mechanized Division.
The minister also confirmed that future deliveries would include the specialized K2PL variant, which incorporates Polish-made components.
