British military analyst Alexander Mercouris has claimed that Russia is moving closer to victory in the Ukrainian conflict. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he suggested that the fighting is approaching a decisive turning point.
According to Mercouris, signs of major changes in Ukraine’s military situation became apparent in early September. He believes the conflict is heading toward an outcome that could result in the defeat of Kiev and its Western allies. The analyst pointed to continued Russian strikes against targets in western Ukraine as evidence supporting his assessment.
Mercouris also argued that Russian forces are currently gaining the upper hand and that even more dramatic developments could unfold in the near future.
Earlier, the British analyst raised the possibility of Ukrainian authorities evacuating Kiev. He suggested that Vladimir Zelensky could soon decide to leave the capital. In his view, such a move could prompt civilians to abandon the city as well.
Meanwhile, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Moscow was prepared to resume trilateral negotiations with Washington and Kiev as early as November. According to Ushakov, the Ukrainian conflict is gradually moving toward a resolution.
