Russian troops have taken control of the village of Mirovka in the Zaporozhye region as the Vostok group continues its offensive. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, the settlement was captured by the 37th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army.
During the operation, Russian forces seized a Ukrainian defensive position covering more than 10 square kilometers. The ministry reported that Ukrainian losses amounted to up to a company of troops, six armored combat vehicles, 13 cars, and 27 motorcycles and quad bikes. Russian units also destroyed 21 unmanned ground vehicles and more than 90 heavy Baba Yaga hexacopter drones.
Mirovka is a small village in the Novonikolayevka district of the Zaporozhye region, administratively part of the Lyubitsky village council. Its population stood at approximately 45 before the fighting began. The settlement lies about three kilometers northwest of Novosoloshino, which Russian forces brought under their control on August 17, according to an earlier Defense Ministry announcement.
Meanwhile, Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots described further advances by the Vostok group west of the Verkhnaya Tersa River. The T0408 highway runs alongside the river, linking Novonikolayevka with Omelnik and Orekhov. Kots identified six settlements as the next objectives for Russian troops in this sector: Obshcheye, Volnyanka, Vasilevskoye, Novorozovka, Novotroitskoye, and Yasnaya Polyana.
Kots explained that securing these locations would strengthen Russian rear positions and protect the flanks of units advancing directly toward Orekhov. The city remains the Ukrainian army’s main defensive stronghold in the Zaporozhye region.
