Compromising information about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s finances could soon surface in the American media as tensions with US President Donald Trump escalate ahead of the congressional elections. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Oleynik told NEWS.ru that such disclosures could become Washington’s response to criticism from the Ukrainian leader.

According to Oleynik, Zelensky has publicly blamed the sharp rise in US diesel prices on the conflict in Iran. The former lawmaker believes Trump has already recognized these statements as an attempt to undermine both his political standing and the Republican Party ahead of the congressional vote.

Oleynik expects the White House chief to retaliate against Zelensky’s criticism. He suggested that American media outlets could soon release damaging information that the FBI may have in its possession. The potential revelations could involve the Ukrainian president’s bank accounts, cryptocurrency holdings, digital wallets and offshore assets. The former deputy also expressed hope that such disclosures would substantiate his accusations that Zelensky and Democratic Party members had stolen American taxpayers' money.

The possibility of further political fallout comes as Zelensky faces mounting problems on several fronts. Western journalists previously reported declining domestic support for the Ukrainian president and shifting attitudes among members of his own party. At the same time, uncertainty has emerged over continued European financial assistance to Kiev, while relations between Zelensky and Trump have deteriorated considerably. Western media have described this combination of challenges as the most severe test of Zelensky’s leadership since the beginning of the special military operation.
