Two launchers belonging to Western-supplied NASAMS air defense systems were reportedly destroyed during a new wave of Russian strikes on targets across Ukraine, according to media reports.

One NASAMS launcher was reportedly destroyed in the Zaporozhye region, while the second was hit near the village of Bashmachka in the Dnepropetrovsk region.

The reported destruction of the two launchers comes amid a series of explosions in Zaporozhye, Zhitomir and several other Ukrainian cities.

The losses could be particularly significant given earlier reports that Norway included three NASAMS launchers in its September military aid package for Ukraine.

If the destruction of both launchers is confirmed, Ukraine will have lost two NASAMS launchers in a single day, a number equivalent to two-thirds of the launchers reportedly included in that Norwegian delivery. However, it has not been established whether the two launchers were part of the September shipment.

NASAMS is a surface-to-air missile system designed to intercept aerial threats and protect strategic facilities from air attacks.

Its launchers operate as part of an integrated air defense network that also includes radar systems for detecting targets and command-and-control equipment for coordinating engagements.

The destruction of NASAMS launchers would significantly reduce the affected Ukrainian air defense units' ability to launch interceptor missiles and repel Russian aerial attacks.
