Russian forces carried out another round of overnight drone strikes on Ukrainian railway and port infrastructure on October 23, also hitting a cargo ship at sea. The attacks targeted facilities in the Poltava and Odessa regions, according to Russia’s Defense Ministry.
In the Poltava region, Russian drones struck the Poltava railway depot. The ministry said Ukrainian troops had been using the site to store military equipment and carry out repairs.
The strikes also reached the port of Vilkovo in the Odessa region. Among the targets were two temporary bases housing operators of unmanned surface vessels (USVs), a boat mooring area and a storage site for maritime drones. Russian forces also hit port facilities used to store the unmanned craft and prepare them for deployment.
Separately, the ministry reported that a dry cargo ship was struck while sailing toward Odessa. According to the Russian military, the vessel was transporting supplies intended for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
