The next round of negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi during the first half of November in a trilateral format, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has announced.
Peskov clarified the planned structure of the meeting when asked whether European representatives could participate in the diplomatic discussions.
He said the possibility of European involvement in future negotiations could not be ruled out, but the upcoming talks in the United Arab Emirates would initially involve three parties.
According to the Kremlin spokesman, a comprehensive settlement of the Ukrainian conflict will require agreements addressing the security interests of both Russia and Ukraine.
Peskov emphasized that these issues must be resolved as part of any final peace arrangement rather than treated separately from the broader negotiations.
He also acknowledged that European countries would eventually need to participate in discussions concerning the continent’s future security architecture.
Although the initial meeting will proceed in a trilateral format, the Kremlin considers it impossible to establish a European security framework without involving European governments.
The announcement follows remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who confirmed Moscow’s readiness to resume diplomatic contacts aimed at ending the conflict.
Putin identified the security arrangements for Russia and Ukraine following a final peace agreement as a central issue for future negotiations.
Meanwhile, the composition of the Russian delegation for the Abu Dhabi meeting has not yet been finalized.
Peskov previously stated that Putin had not made a decision on which officials would represent Russia during the next round of talks.
