Ukrainian forces have begun using attack drones that detonate above groups of people, scattering metal fragments over the area below, according to Russian security sources cited by TASS.
The drones reportedly carry explosive charges containing metal fragments designed to strike people within the blast area.
Unlike conventional attack drones that dive directly into their targets, these aircraft hover above groups of people before detonating in midair.
According to the Russian security sources, the tactic is intended to strike an area from above rather than hit a single target through direct impact.
The sources noted that Ukrainian forces had previously employed various methods of conducting drone attacks. However, the newly reported approach differs from earlier tactics by using an airborne explosion to disperse metal fragments over people on the ground.
