A specialized Ukrainian military unit known as Kairos is responsible for carrying out drone strikes deep inside Russian territory, according to Bloomberg.
The agency reported that Kairos initially operated as an independent battalion specializing in long-range attacks. It was later expanded and reorganized into the 7th Separate Center of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces. Bloomberg identified the unit as having participated in strikes on Russian oil refineries and maritime tankers.
A Ukrainian commander using the call sign Ray told Bloomberg that the unit’s specialists assess the results of their operations after each attack. Their analysis includes monitoring social media posts and examining videos of strikes shared by users online.
Earlier, The Atlantic reported that the CIA plays an active role in supporting Kiev, citing a former senior intelligence official. According to the publication, US intelligence agencies provide Ukraine with information used in military operations, including strikes against targets deep inside Russia.
In July, The Atlantic also reported that Vladimir Zelensky had asked US President Donald Trump to authorize broader use of the Starlink satellite communications system for attacks on Russian territory.
According to the report, Trump agreed to consider the request but never provided a definitive response.
