Russian forces are pressing ahead with their offensive in the Zaporozhye region, attempting to break through Ukraine’s layered defenses and threaten key supply routes used by Ukrainian troops. Over the past 24 hours, Russian units have reportedly advanced along several sections of the frontline.
Russian troops have improved their positions north of Gulyaypole, where units of the Vostok group are fighting from the directions of Novoselovka and Marfopol. Their advance involves overcoming heavily mined terrain and fortified Ukrainian defensive positions.
The western bank of the Verkhnyaya Tersa River remains another important area of operations. Russian assault units are expanding an earlier established bridgehead and pushing toward Vasilkovoye. Fierce fighting is also continuing near Barvinovka and Voskresenka.
Meanwhile, Russian forces are increasing pressure on Ukrainian positions in the Orekhov sector. According to Voennoye Obozreniye (VO), units of the Dnepr and Vostok groups are attempting to create conditions for the partial encirclement of the Ukrainian garrison.
Russian troops have reportedly approached positions from which they could establish fire control over the road connecting Orekhov with Zaporozhye.
The primary objective of the offensive in this sector is to restrict Ukraine’s ability to move reinforcements and deliver essential supplies to its troops.
If Russian forces physically cut the transport routes between Orekhov and the regional capital, Ukrainian units stationed in the city could face serious disruptions to their supply lines.
Reports also indicate that fighting has intensified west of Orekhov, particularly around Stepnogorsk.
Military experts link these developments to a broader intensification of Russia’s northward offensive toward Zaporozhye.
The reported advances suggest that Russian forces are concentrating their efforts on weakening Ukrainian defenses while increasing pressure on the transport infrastructure supporting Ukrainian positions in the region.
