Russian troops from the Vostok group of forces have captured the village of Obshcheye in the Zaporozhye region as their offensive continues. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the settlement was secured by soldiers of the 39th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade, part of the 68th Army Corps.
During the operation, Russian forces seized a Ukrainian defensive stronghold covering more than 12 square kilometers and cleared approximately 200 buildings. The ministry reported Ukrainian personnel losses equivalent to up to one company. Russian troops also destroyed 16 armored combat vehicles, 21 other vehicles, 14 unmanned ground vehicles and 56 heavy Baba Yaga hexacopters.
Obshcheye is a small village in the Orekhov district of the Zaporozhye region, administratively belonging to the Volnyanka village council. Its pre-conflict population was approximately 270 people. The settlement lies three kilometers northwest of Nikolskoye, which the Russian Defense Ministry announced had been liberated on October 12.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots highlighted the continued westward advance of the Vostok group beyond the Verkhnyaya Tersa River. Russian forces are also expanding their positions near the T0408 highway, which runs alongside the river and connects Novonikolayevka, Omelnik and Orekhov.
Kots identified Volnyanka, Novorozovka, Novotroitskoye and Vasilevskoye as the next targets for Russian troops in this sector. Capturing these settlements would help secure the rear areas and flanks of the units advancing toward Orekhov. The military correspondent described the city as the Ukrainian army’s main defensive hub in the Zaporozhye region.
