Russia’s Kalitka anti-drone turret can destroy aerial targets with approximately 10 shots, according to a Rosgvardia serviceman who described the system’s capabilities to the Vesti news service.
The Russian-made weapon is used both to protect military crews and as a standalone firing system. Mounted on a pickup truck chassis, Kalitka is equipped with a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun and a thermal imaging device.
One of the turret’s key features is its use of artificial intelligence. The semi-automatic system employs AI to calculate firing corrections, improving its ability to engage aerial targets. The Rosgvardia serviceman claimed that roughly 10 rounds are sufficient to destroy a target.
Kalitka can also operate in conjunction with a radar station, expanding the range of possible applications for the system.
The Kalitka-KA system was unveiled by Russia’s Kalashnikov Concern in September 2026. Its electro-optical station incorporates daylight cameras, a rangefinder and a thermal imager, allowing the weapon to operate both during the day and at night.
