The Russian Defense Ministry announced on October 26 that troops from the Vostok Group had captured the settlement of Obshcheye, located several kilometers west of Novosoloshino in the Zaporozhye region.

According to the Telegram channel Military Chronicle, the capture marks another step in Russia’s continuing advance along the Zaporozhye front. The channel’s analysts believe that Russian forces are maintaining sufficient momentum to expand their controlled territory west of the Verkhnyaya Tersa River while moving closer to Ukrainian defensive positions on the approaches to Orekhov.

Military Chronicle also recalled earlier Russian Defense Ministry reports announcing the capture of Mirovka and several other settlements in the Zaporozhye region. The channel argued that these successive territorial gains are creating opportunities for further offensive operations across neighboring sections of the front.

The analysts noted that the Vostok Group is gradually consolidating its positions by capturing smaller settlements, establishing conditions for additional advances rather than relying on a single large breakthrough.

Particular attention is being paid to the southern sector, where Russia’s 58th Army is currently engaged in fighting for Orekhov. According to Military Chronicle, a successful expansion of the offensive in that direction could threaten Ukrainian supply routes serving the city.

The channel also warned that further Russian advances could disrupt some of the logistical connections leading to Stepnogorsk, where Russian troops are currently involved in heavy fighting.
