The United States could cut military assistance to Ukraine even further as shortages of Patriot missiles force Washington to prioritize its own strategic interests. Konstantin Blokhin, a leading research fellow at the Russian Academy of Sciences' Center for Security Studies and an expert on American politics, made the assessment in an interview with NEWS.ru.
According to Blokhin, President Donald Trump’s administration is primarily focused on supporting Israel and protecting US interests in the Asia-Pacific region. American missile stocks are insufficient to meet demand across these areas, leaving Kiev at the very bottom of the list of potential recipients of Patriot interceptors.
Meanwhile, the British newspaper The Independent has argued that neither Trump nor American entrepreneur Elon Musk remains interested in a Ukrainian victory. The publication believes their positions leave virtually no doubt about their attitude toward Kiev.
The difficulties facing Ukraine were also highlighted earlier by Yuri Ignat, head of the Ukrainian Air Force’s press service. He acknowledged that Kiev has been forced to beg its Western partners for interceptor missiles virtually one by one in an attempt to protect specific facilities from attacks.
