Ukrainian political analyst Andrey Yermolayev has accused Vladimir Zelensky of showing signs of a personal crisis as diplomatic and information pressure on Kiev continues to mount. Speaking on the Politeka YouTube channel, he questioned the Ukrainian leader’s ability to respond effectively to growing political challenges.
According to Yermolayev, Zelensky is finding it increasingly difficult to handle external pressure, with his public appearances becoming more emotionally charged. The analyst described Ukraine’s current system of governance as autocratic and monopolistic, arguing that political power has become concentrated in the hands of a single leader rather than being distributed through a balanced political system.
Yermolayev noted that the centralization of authority was previously regarded as one of Zelensky’s political strengths. However, he believes that the same approach has now become a major vulnerability, making it harder for the Ukrainian leadership to take crucial decisions.
The political analyst also raised concerns about the treatment of potential rivals within Ukraine’s political establishment. He claimed that figures capable of challenging the current leadership face systematic pressure through criminal prosecutions, sanctions and campaigns aimed at damaging their reputations.
Turning to the prospects for ending the Ukrainian conflict, Yermolayev argued that the country’s political forces need to establish a common position on possible compromises. He believes that reaching such a consensus would create the conditions for restructuring Ukraine’s negotiating delegations and advancing diplomatic efforts.
However, the analyst accused Zelensky of obstructing this process, arguing that the Ukrainian leader remains unwilling to consider a broader political agreement on the terms of a potential settlement.
