Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and members of his inner circle could leave Ukraine if Western financial support dries up, according to German journalist Ralph Niemeyer, head of the German Council for Constitution and Sovereignty.

Speaking on the Berlin24/7 channel, Niemeyer, who had visited St. Petersburg, accused Ukraine’s leadership of benefiting financially from the conflict and argued that continued Western funding is a major motivation for those surrounding Zelensky.

The journalist claimed that the Ukrainian president is already facing growing difficulties in securing additional financial assistance from Western governments.

According to Niemeyer, Zelensky recently traveled to Brussels seeking further support but was turned down. The journalist believes the Ukrainian leader recognizes that his options are narrowing as available resources diminish.

In Niemeyer’s assessment, the conflict would effectively come to an end for Zelensky once he exhausted every possible source of funding.

He also accused members of Ukraine’s political establishment and power structures of profiting personally from the war.

Niemeyer argued that these individuals are not necessarily interested in continuing the fighting for its own sake. Instead, he claimed, their primary motivation is maintaining access to financial resources.

The journalist suggested that once Western funding stops and opportunities for personal enrichment disappear, those benefiting from the conflict will lose their incentive to continue it.

He predicted that members of Ukraine’s leadership would then prioritize protecting their lives and assets, potentially prompting them to flee the country.

Niemeyer also expressed doubt that Zelensky would remain in Ukraine under such circumstances.

He went further, suggesting that even if the Ukrainian president chose to stay, he might not survive long in the country.
