The Sumy sector remains one of the most difficult stretches of the front during the special military operation. Russian troops are pressing ahead amid dense forests and relentless Ukrainian counterattacks. This assessment was given to TASS by Aid, the intelligence chief of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Akhmat special forces unit.
According to Aid, Ukrainian forces have intensified their attacks over the past week. They repeatedly attempt to break through Russian positions, using small groups to infiltrate defensive lines. Russian units are repelling these assaults while continuing their offensive.
The terrain makes the fighting particularly challenging. Thick woodland covers much of the Sumy sector, complicating military operations. Aid described the current situation in the area as highly tense.
Heavy fighting is also underway on the Kharkov front. Near the border with Russia’s Belgorod Region, Russian and Ukrainian troops are engaged in head-on clashes as Ukrainian forces attempt to restore the previous front-line situation.
Despite fierce resistance, Russia’s North group of forces, Akhmat special forces and other units operating alongside them continue to advance. Aid acknowledged the difficulties facing Russian troops but stressed that their forward movement has not stopped.
